2018 IFMAR IC Track World Championship: Free Practice

Homestead RC Raceway: Free practice for the IFMAR 1/10th Nitro Touring World Championships has concluded and from tomorrow Live RC will start the live coverage of qualifying (click here to check the official page). Yesterday’s free practice ended with Mugen Seiki Racing’s Robert Pietsch topping the times.

Tyler Hooks writes: As far as how the first 4 rounds of seeding practice went, Mugen’s Robert Pietsch would top the times with a 53.668 top 3 consecutive lap pace in the fourth round of practice. All of the top 10 drivers after day one would post their fastest times in the fourth round of practice. Reigning champion Serpent’s Dominic Greiner would be second fastest after day 1 with a 53.730 3 lap pace. Finally the Infinity driven by Jesse Davis would pop up 3rd fastest with a 53.771 going into the second day of free practice. 5th fastest Infinity’s Lamberto Collari would top the times in round 2 of practice, and was the only person able to go faster than Dominic in any of the 4 rounds.

Day two has proved to be a less dominant day for Pietsch the best he could do in any of the 3 counted rounds was a 6th. Dominic Greiner would start day 2 by topping the times in the 1st round (Round 5) of the day, but Infinity’s Naoto Matsukura would top the charts in round 6 and Lamberto would again be fastest in round 7. Round 4 (Round 8) of practice for the day was half way done when rain came in stopping practice for the day. Despite not having the form seen in the first day of practice, Pietsch is still fastest after 7 rounds of free practice as all 3 of the counting rounds on day 2 proved to be slower for almost all drivers. The driver making the biggest jump in the top 30 on day two would be Matsukura who moved into 5th with his round 6 time.

Mugen’s JJ Wang would end up being the fastest American in open practice putting himself in the top heat for seeding practice with a 10th overall starting position.
