This summer LEGO is releasing a bunch on new Technic sets. One of the most interesting for us (RC lovers) is the Rough Terrain Crane: the largest and tallest LEGO Technic crane ever produced by the Danish Company. Activate the Power Functions and select upper or lower crane mode for complete control over an array of easy‑to‑operate, motorized functions. Manual functions include 4-wheel steering, 4-wheel drive, detailed V8 engine with moving pistons and fan, and adjustable wing mirrors, plus a detailed operator’s cab with an opening door.
Here’s a video of the Rough Terrain Crane created by Sariel: the most famous AFOL specialized in LEGO Technic masterpieces and author of several really successful books.
A LEGO Power Functions large motor controls the cranes upper and lower functions.
The Rough Terrain Crane measures over 1meter high, 66cm long and 26cm wide in working position ( over 27cm high, 76cm long and 20cm wide in driving position).
If you are bored by the Rough Terrain Crane, it can be rebuilt to create a Mobile Pile Driver like in the photo down here. This alternative model measures over 24cm high, 50cm long and 20cm wide in driving position.
